Inspiration: Mantle Styling
As I live on the Gold Coast, Australia and we have no need for a fireplace as it doesn't get quite cold enough to warrant a roaring fire, although sometimes I wish it would! However, I'd love to have a nice mantle in my home to decorate each season. Maybe just a decorative fireplace is what I need!
Have a look at these beach themed mantle decor... just beautiful!

Inspiration: Beach Artwork!
The easiest way to add some coastal charm to your home is by adding some artwork, whether it be canvases, prints or DIY.
I've scoured Pinterest, Etsy and the rest of the web and here are some of my favourites...
Free printable prints available to download and frame yourself from http://www.theshabbycreekcottage.com/
Or for something a little pricier, but in my opinion well worth it, check out Adam Duffy, a well known local ocean photographer whose worldwide images are just amazing!
Something I personally have in my own home is this IKEA print. Fantastic value for such a large piece! It's a whopping 2 metres wide and makes a huge statement on a large wall.
If you're lucky enough to live near the coast why not get out and snap some pics yourself! There's a great range of affordable printing options like Kmart, Big W, Officeworks and Snapfish.
Enjoy!

Travel: Port Douglas!
For the first in the travel files, I decided on the small Queensland town of Port Douglas. My husband was lucky enough to live there with his family for a few years as a teenager. If you happen to live in Far North Queensland - consider me jealous!
The Facts:
Port Douglas is a town in Far North Queensland. A very popular tourist destination for Australia. The town is named after former Premier of Queensland John Douglas. Port Douglas has a tropical monsoon climate with warm winters and hot, humid summers.
Port Douglas is near the Great Barrier Reef which makes fishing and boating a popular tourist attraction.
And of course, it's where the reef meets the rainforest with Mossman Gorge on the outskirts of town.
Doesn't it look beautiful? Hopefully one day I will make it here, somehow I don't think I'll want to leave!
Smells like the beach!
I love to fill my home with candles, it creates such a relaxed atmosphere. And of course my favourite fragrances would have to be beach inspired. I also have recently started making my own soy candles (more on that in an upcoming post!).
With Christmas coming faster than I can get organised (yikes!) here are some of my favourite candle stockists...

Fashion: Tropical inspired swimwear
While checking out the latest swimwear at Target, I noticed this season's fun, colourful, tropical inspired prints!
Seriously how fun are all these prints? The hardest part would be deciding which one to buy? Maybe one of each ;)
All available at here at Target

Inspiration: The hub of the home!
The kitchen is without a doubt the hub of any home. Although I am not much of a cook, I do like my kitchen to clean and organised. It instantly makes the rest of the house seem tidier.
Unfortunately at the moment I have a teeny tiny little kitchen but I love to browse the web and Pinterest and dream of beautiful open kitchens for my 'one day when I win lotto' home!
I am sure I would enjoy cooking a whole lot more if I could have one of these kitchens!
The beach style kitchen is of course bright, airy and open, with lots of sunshine pouring through the windows.
Keeping the cupboards and walls white or a neutral colour allows you to bring in pops of colour through accessories and appliances.

Adding some natural elements like the bar stools in this picture add some rustic charm. I also love the pineapples!
The above picture has been a particular favourite of mine. The white cabinets paired with the soft blue subway tiles screams beach to me!
When visiting family or friends for dinner, I love to pull up a bar stool and chat to the host in the kitchen with a glass of wine. These stools and the blind on the window add a natural element to the room.
And of course what could be better than a bright kitchen with a fantastic view!
These beautiful pictures have left me with some serious kitchen envy! Hope you enjoyed them too!

Welcome!
Hello and welcome to this sunshine-y place of mine. My name is Scarlett and for as long as I can remember I have had a love affair with the beach. I hope to share with you all some beach style inspiration along the way.
There's just something about the vast expanse of crystal clear turquoise water, with soft waves lapping at the crisp white sand that evokes such a relaxing vibe that it's hard not to love!
I am lucky enough to live on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia where Surfers Paradise is just minutes away.
This is such an iconic spot for Australia and sometimes on my way to work after a rough morning trying to get my three kids out the door, I stop and look out at the water and the palm trees and it gives me an instant boost of happiness!
Feel free to email me any suggestions on what I can share with you all. I'd love to hear your feedback.
Stay tuned for some posts very soon!
